VIDHYA ANKUR

This program was started 20 years ago, together with 10 other centres all around Delhi, under the Community Polytehcnic program where our Faculty worked with the local unemployed,  honed and improved skills for employment or better employment.

The Program under the Community Polytechnic was wound up through government action and we continued with this self-financing activity and scaled it to what it is today;

  • 450 learners from state schools who get reinforced learning and improve their grades dramatically
  • 150 learners in Beauty Culture, Tailoring, Dress Design, Computer Applications and Basic Computing Skills and English Speaking each year; many of whom secure employment
  • Self help groups and adult education to women and ensuring that rag pickers are provided sanitary facilities and learning opportunity;

What you can do: Get Involved

Agnel Jan Kalyan  has been established as a model for people’s empowerment, based on participation and involvement of the beneficiaries and be part of the Government’s scheme to reach out to people. Our objective is to  establish  Agnel Jan Kalyan     as a hub for creating  small entrepreneurs through  development work and outreach programs, so that more and more individuals can take the opportunity for self employment and entrepreneurship.

We will begin by training individuals to become  AREA LEVEL  ENTERPRENEURS (ALE) in their own areas of residence, through small  SELF HEL GROUPS (SHG)   and through it, empower citizens in their own neighbourhood so that they can avail of the e-Governance facilities available to the citizens. On a higher Scale the ALEs  will offer B2B (Business to Business) facilities as well B2C (Business to Client)  facilities  in Mobile Recharge,  Education facilities for enrolment and other paid services for a minimum fee as part of the Co-operative movement for self-development through solidarity with the vulnerable, SCs and STs. as well as the OBCs and  Muslims.

Education is the primary vehicle of  individual and group change, and we consider that giving access to education to individuals and communities through the brick and mortal models as well as through the digital mode  such as   “Sarkaripariksha.com” etc. is at the core of our engagement.

We have projected the following milestones  in the next two years:

  1. Impact 500 individuals each year through Skill Training in Govt. accredited Trades/Skills and ensure their placement or self employment by tying with Sectoral Skills Training Centres;
  2. Impact 1000 through additional e-Skill Training in other fields which are in increasing demand in the infrastructure development, such as welders, steel fixers, masons, drivers, home care assistants, retail trade assistants, delivery and order service assistants in the e-commerce, etc.
  3. Impact 100 kids each year, by ensuring that as they pass the Grade X and Grade XII examinations, they also have a skill in their hands that makes them immediately employment as they achieve adult age.
  4. Reach out at least 10,000 students particularly women who cannot go out beyond their villages and assist them to prepare for the Government Examinations in Banks, Police Service, Railways, etc and other jobs through Online and Off line test Prep examinations in their own neighborhoods through Customer Service Centres and existing Area Level  Entrepreneurs (ALE).
  5. Create at least 20 small entrepreneurs in the sectors of garments, artificial jewelry, neighborhood catering, spices, assembled electronic goods, flower arrangement and sales, hair and beauty culture.
